Dr. Esmeralda Adame joined the South Texas College family in 2004. Currently, she is the Program Chair for Advanced Manufacturing Technology and has an extensive educational background with a National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Certification, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Doctoral in Education Leadership, just to name a few.

Her service to our college, our community and our students has been proven over the years. As a first generation college student, with English as a second language and a South Texas College graduate, she has taught in various courses (Advanced Machining, Drafting for Specific Occupations and Precision Tools and Measurements), brought in employers to meet students and has won various awards and certificates for all of her efforts.

Her passion shows through the work she does, and continues to encourage women and let them know it is possible and a great opportunity to be part of the Advanced Manufacturing field. As a mother of three, she knew all that she wanted in life: an education, a great career and a family.

Dr. Adame says, “Set your goals and work hard to achieve them, set your priorities straight and you will get where you want to go. Being a mother and working full time while trying to obtain a master’s and then a doctorate is not easy, it takes hard work, dedication and ganas!  Being a Hispanic female in a non-traditional world may bring obstacles, but being prepared with the right attitude, anyone can overcome them. And follow the golden rule: treat others how you would like to be treated.”
